Hi, I’m Mia.

I am running for Robbinsdale City Council Ward 3.

About

My roots in our neighborhood run deep. I now own the home where I grew up in Robbinsdale.

Currently serving as Chair of the Robbinsdale Planning Commission.

I am the level-headed, trusted, servant leader.

I have spent most of my life in Robbinsdale. I first came to Robbinsdale as a child, when my mom bought a house on Major Ave and raised my three siblings and me in our little blue house with the red door. The roots of my family run deep in our area; my great-grandmother, who gave me my middle name Z (yes, just the letter), lived on Douglas Drive back when it was a dirt road, and my grandparents lived in the adjacent home their entire lives. My mother and my aunts and uncles graduated from Robbinsdale High School. Both of my brothers played little league in Robbinsdale. My sister and her husband are raising three incredible kids who are attending RSIS. My aunt has just celebrated her 25th year working for the Robbinsdale School District.

If you're wondering more about me as a candidate, you'll quickly learn that I will amplify others before talking about myself. Family is important to me, as is a deep connection to the sense of Home.

My mom, the incredible woman who brought me and my family to Robbinsdale for a better quality of life, passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2017. She spent her last days in our house on Major Ave. My husband and I now live in that very same little blue house with the red door, continuing the delicate, complicated, and deep legacy of Home.

Meet Mia Z from Ward 3.

Robbinsdale has always been Home. I went to middle school at TLC. My very first job was at the age of 14, tending the ice rink at Lee Park for Robbinsdale Parks. I graduated from Robbinsdale Cooper High School. I was awarded my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Olaf College. In my 20's I taught wellness classes for Robbinsdale Parks and Rec. I now work from home as an Instructional Designer where my passion is creating impactful and accessible learning experiences, connecting experts and their knowledge to learners and their curiosity. I have served as an election judge for Ward 3. I now serve on the Planning Commission as Chair.

  • I care about building an inclusive community.

  • I care about the environment.

  • I care about access to parks and services.

  • I care about our Home.

Thank you for your consideration for Robbinsdale City Council Ward 3. I hope to serve you.
